Sqeeky cranks? Empty
PostSubject: Sqeeky cranks?   Sqeeky cranks? I_icon_minitimeThu Apr 30, 2009 8:59 am

My cranks gave been making a squeaky noise lately. Almost as if something is grinding when I pedal. I tightened everything up and lubed the chain, but it still makes the noise when I pedal. It only happens when I am on the bike, not when I crank the tire around with my hand. Any help?

take the cranks off and put a tiny thin layer of grease on the spindle where your crank arm sits and that should fix it i had the same problem for the longest time before i figured it out

I'll try that. Hopefully everything will be all better now.

WD40 is not a lubricant. It is a degreaser. You should use something like silicone, barium, or lithium sprays or pastes for lubrication.
